James Bond is Back in Casino Royale Feb 28, 2007
By G. Petrof This 2006 edition of the famous James Bond watch made its debut in the movie Casino Royale. Actually, there are two Omega watches in the movie; the limited edition Omega Seamaster Plant Ocean Big Size 2907.50.91 and the limited edition Omega Seamaster Chronometer 2226.80.00. The watch offered here carries on the James Bond style without the limited edition price tag.
This style of the James Bond watch first appeared in the movie 'Golden Eye' (1995) and is still available as the full size gents model 2531.80.00. The new 2006 model 2220.80.00 has several refinements that you should consider over the previous (but still available) model. Most notably, the automatic movement now has the newly designed Co-Axial escapement. The Co-Axial Technology reduces sliding friction compared with the lever escapement in the previous model and ensures greater accuracy over time. More importantly, it doesn't require servicing for 10 years versus 2-3 years in the previous model. Servicing a luxury watch like Omega can be expensive. Bear in mind that any Omega watch purchased on the internet voids the International Warranty, so read the seller's warranty terms carefully. This watch is also available in a quartz version as model 2221.80.00.
The other big change is the appearance of the watch face. The blue wave dial is a deeper shade blue with a more distinctive wave pattern and the Seamaster script is a subtle red. More apparent is the hour markings are now encased in stainless steel mountings instead of painted on as in the previous model. This alone cleans up the watch face and makes it look like it costs thousands more.
If you desire a James Bond series watch with a true Swiss movement, this is the one.

Watchmakers Advice Dec 21, 2007
By Claude H. Suddreth
"Opinion Expert"
I am rather opinionated when it comes to luxury watches. This comes from spending 2 years in watchmaking school, studying directly under the guidance of a certified master swiss watchmaker who came here from Europe. Watches, especially mid to high grade swiss watches, are a passion of mine. I am not loyal to a brand or a style or anything else. I judge them for what they are, in terms of quality, function, construction, and style. A watchmakers point of view.
This said I will tell you that this particular watch is what I consider to be a "best kept secret" sort of watch. This is an AUTOMATIC watch (read: Mechanical - NOT Quartz), and of CHRONOMETER grade function. Chronometer as used here is a measure of accurate timekeeping, not quality - a point often misunderstood - and is used mostly from a marketing point of view by companies such as Rolex. HOWEVER. This movement in THIS watch is actually EXCELLENT in terms of quality, time keeping ability, and construction - easily comparable to other Swiss made movements from other famous manufacturers costing several times as much. This watch, properly serviced, will provide a lifetime of use - and probably more. Absolutely the sort of watch you pass down to the next generation.
All in all - and EXCELLENT choice - especially for those seeking their first QUALITY Swiss watch purchase.
Definitely recommended!

serial number was scratched off Jan 29, 2010
By Alex W. I have been researching Omega Seamaster watches for couple of months, and went to several authorized dealers in my local area. They usually offer <15% discount + tax. So it would be around $2900 if I buy from them. I was impressed by the price Amazon offered (~$800 saving), although I know that Amazon is not an authorized dealer (therefore, the Omega warranty is void). I recieved the watch 2 days after placing the order. It is beautiful and same as what I saw from the local dealers. It came with authentic box and 3 cards (surprising! since I thought the warranty card would be missing. Of course, the card is not filled with proper dealer names etc. so it is void technically). Unfortunately, when I carefully examed the back of the watch, I found that the serial number on the watch was scatched off (or more precisely speaking: destroyed). I can see something, but it is fussy, and even with good magnification, you cannot read the numbers. So I cannot match the serial number on the watch to the number on the card. It is really disappointing. I trust Amazon and I think it is authentic. But without a serial number on the watch, it is difficult to justfy spending >$2000 on this watch. It would be really difficult for resale and even to get it serviced by Omega later if the watch needs an overhaul. So I had to return it. Another thing is when you return, you will have to use USPS insured mail and it is kind of inconvenient (I used to just drop off at UPS stores for other returns). Amazon does well for my return and they refund pretty fast after received the package (within one day), so I was pretty happy about that.
Overall, it is a nice watch and I really liked it (5 star for the watch) and Amason service is good and return/refund is fast. However, be aware that when you buy from internet (even with trustful site like Amazon), there is still risks that the watch somehow is not the same (i.e. serial number not intact). Of course, it is a $800 saving. For someone who doesn't care about the serial number, it is still the best deal. So be aware of the risk and make your own decision wisely. That is why I am giving it a 3-star rating.
Hope this is helpful.

Omega Seamaster Mens 2220.80 Oct 31, 2007
By Michel Brisebois Excellent watch... arrived as expected. Authentic packaging, serial numbers, warranty cards, etc.
First, I tried it on in several stores, along with other models to help me decide.... so I am very familar with the watch. I also own another Omega, the Moonwatch (the reduced version).
Among the Seamaster types, I liked this one best as it is lighter than the next model up... and the automatic is way cooler as the second hand sweeps across the face rather than clunks along like the cheaper quartz.
Amazon had one of the best prices at the time... plus it is safer than ordering directly from some small retailer. Got it within 48hrs on expedite shipping, despite going through customs. Retailer in Brooklyn, and I am in Vancouver BC.... pretty good door to door service. With duty tax and currency exchange costs, saved 35% from buying here at a retail store in Canada. Worth my while for sure. A gem at a great price.
