5Modern Classic, superb details and features for price!  Sep 28, 2010 By J Mark "JM"
I ordered this watch from Amazon via Mr.Watch, it arrived quickly and in good order. I was attracted to simple classic design of this watch. I wanted a date/day display, and 100m water resist. This watch has all of that plus more, certain days are color coded, I've always liked a watch which displays SUN in red, this Seiko does that plus SAT is shown in blue, which is neat. This watch has a five year battery, nice bonus, plus I believe that the second hand will jump two seconds at a time to indicate when the battery needs to be replaced, you might want to confirm this. The manual states such but is not specific if it applies to this model. The craftsmanship is just perfect for a watch in this price range, the second hand on the one I received aligns pretty nicely with the second markers on the face which is rare, it does so even better than my expensive Omega Seamaster. I find the display is easy to read, clean uncluttered and the luminous markings work very well. If you have problems with your eyesight you may want to get a different watch or a new pair of glasses but don't blame it on the this watch. Overall I'm very happy with this Seiko, it's a lot of watch for the price! There does not seem to be many watches with analog day/date display plus 100m water resist. I also like that the crown is well protected and the display is not cluttered with unnecessary text, the titanium sapphire model had "SAPPHIRE - TITANIUM" written on the face. I find that distracting and kind of tacky. Seiko's Hardex crystal is durable and functions well. I find the thin profile of this watch makes it easy to avoid hitting into things. Happily the SGG783 is first class, great value!! If you buy it, enjoy!!

PRO:

- 100M water resist
- Color coded DATE/DAY display
- Crown Guard
- Five year battery
- Luminous markings that work
- Well made and accurate and reliable Seiko 7N43 movement
- Bold size and style but not too thick or bulky
- Great value, a lot of watch for the money

CON:

For the price I don't see any, if you insist on picking on something I'm sure you can come up with something but for me I think this watch is understated!

UPDATE: Been wearing this watch for a couple of weeks now and really like it a lot, super comfortable, very accurate and I've received a few complements on it! Sophisticated and thin enough for dress yet with rugged features, strong appearance and size suitable for everyday! Swim, shower, casual, use it always!

5Dressy Understated Good Value  Jan 09, 2011 By Michael L. Loren
I've had this for a year. A Jeweler friend recommended this watch with a stainless steel back and bezel for long term durability. I wear this mainly for dress. It looks great. I think the black dial is elegant and the hands are easy to read. It keeps good time. It runs on a battery and does not need winding. The band is durable and well made and is quite substantial. The clasp is well designed. For less than 200 dollars, this is excellent value. What more do you need for a watch? My wife got this for me for a present. I am very happy with this. Recently someone told me a man of my means should be wearing a Rolex. This watch keeps better time and looks just as good. It is hard to find quality as good as Seiko. My only problem with the watch is setting the date. This is inherently a problem with any of these analog watches.

5Nice Watch  Dec 22, 2010 By Len Conradson
this is a beautiful watch. It is solid, substancial, simplistic and it is made in Japan. The band closure is cool and works very well.

4Seiko watch  Nov 23, 2008 By Robert O. Wray "Bob"
Very nice watch but disappointed with the visibility of the hands and hour markers. The luminescent markers on the hands and hours is barely visible during the day against the black background, and pretty much useless at night. The second hand is so thin it's almost invisible.
Missing from the package was any indication of how to adjust the watch band. Had to go to the internet and fortunately ran across some advice as to how to adjust the band. Can't figure why Seiko keeps it a secret.
Keeps good time...checked against my atomic clocks, it seems to be running about 10 seconds a month slow.
