Awesome GMT Apr 05, 2010
By Ron

This is an awesome man's man watch. Thick, good looking and functional. Never needs winding or a battery. If you travel and change time zones this is a must watch. Easy to adjust.

A fine piece of craftmanship May 20, 2011
By J. Lemons I have been wearing this watch for a couple weeks now and am entirely satisfied with my choice. I upgraded from a similar Seiko Series 5 after dealing with an issue with capacitor leakage common in the earlier Kinetic watches. These issues have now been resolved through Seiko. The self charging nature of the Seiko Kinetics is a very nice feature since there are no batteries to change -- ever. Straight out the box, the watch already held about 1 month of charge (movement during shipping I suppose) and after a week of normal use (8+ hours a day) the watch is be good for a full six months if I was to set it aside.
The watch is solid and therefore heavy and may seem awkward to someone moving up from a smaller watch. My previous Seiko had a 39mm bezel and there was a noticeable difference in weight and bulk between the two. That said, this watch does not interfere with daily tasks unless you have to stick your arm into a tight space. The latching mechanism is actually slimmer than on my Series 5, but feels much more solid in the catch. Settings are simple and straight forward even if you have never had a watch with a GMT feature. The included manual will answer any questions that may arise in six different languages. And yea, the watch looks even better on your wrist than it does in the picture.
The only step that you will have to take on your own is having the watch sized. I didn't do this work myself, but the local shop that I took it on was more than happy to show me the tiny screws and rods that hold the band together. The shop carries higher end lines of Seikos (no spring drives in stock yet), but mentioned that this was one of the more difficult they had to work with. That's not a bad thing if you want your band to stay intact over the years, but can add a few extra minutes to the resizing process.

Not Quite Like Picture Dec 17, 2011
By Richard H. Wood
"Timenut"
The main picture is apparently an artists drawing rather than a photo as the actual watch has a power reserve check button that is not on the pictured watch.
This watch is big. Measured width including the crown is a full 51mm or 2". The bezel is 43mm to 44.5mm and measured through the center of the face the case diameter is about 49+mm due to the guard for the crown. Also heavy at about 7 ounces so be warned. Not for those with small wrists! I personally like the size and mass which are pretty much the style for mens sports watches currently. There are lots of larger mens watches including many current Invictas.
Finish on both the watch and bracelet appear flawless. This is definitely a well finished watch. The dial is a vertical barred very dark blue, practically black in indoor lighting.
The warranty booklet with mine is the international one so the Amazon warranty is the one which applies rather than a Seiko USA warranty. This watch was bought from Amazon rather than one of their sellers.

Better than my old GMT Master Sep 13, 2011
By M. Kilarjian This is not only a great watch from a mechanical perspective, but also an example of how good design follows function. The Velatura Kinetic GMT lives up to the other Amazon reviews, and more. It is stylish, bold, and can really make a statement. I own a Seiko Kinetic from over 15 years ago, and it keeps the same great time it did when new, and has yet to require service. I am very pleased with this watch.
